Our 6-day 2025 Traditional Shoden and Okuden Reiki training in Auckland was more than a Class
It was a gathering of hearts, laughter, and deep connection. Each day the room was alive with smiles, stories, and the gentle hum of healing energy. There was so much learning, delicious food, heartfelt Reiju, hands-on Reiki practice, and endless laughter shared together.
We loved every part of it
The Reiki, the friendships, and the natural beauty of the beach, bush, and birds that surrounded us. And above all, we loved our teacher, Frank Arjava Petter, whose warmth, humour, and wisdom deepened our understanding of Reiki as it was originally taught.
From 24 September to 1 October, twenty students, six Aussies and fourteen Kiwis of all ages, came together to learn traditional Shoden (Level 1) and Okuden (Level 2) Reiki, as passed down from Usui Sensei, Hayashi Sensei, and Chiyoko Sensei. We learned, practised, and laughed side by side, building friendships and memories that will last long beyond the training room.
A special milestone
A special milestone was the completion of eight days of training by six new Shihankaku Teachers (Level 1), who are now qualified to teach Shoden in New Zealand and Australia. What a joy to see Reiki’s light continuing to spread through new teachers, guided by Arjava’s lineage and love for Reiki.
Arjava's connection to Aotearoa
Another highlight was Arjava’s visit to Waitangi, where he felt a deep spiritual connection to the land. Standing beside the ancient carving of Hine near the great waka, with his Reiki hands open beside the Marae, he was deeply moved by the mana and energy of Aotearoa.
It was a moment of gratitude, for the land, the ancestors, and the universal life force that connects us all.
Arjava reminds us - Reiki is a way of being
Now back home in Lesvos, Greece, Arjava leaves us with full hearts and immense gratitude, for his kindness, humour, and unwavering dedication to living Reiki as a way of being.
His teachings remind us that Reiki is not only about healing, it’s about compassion, community, and remembering who we truly are.
Arjava will return in November 2026
Arjava will return in November 2026 to share another beautiful chapter of traditional Reiki with us. Shoden and Okuden (Level 1 and Level 2) are learnt in the new 6-day Class; Shihankaku training is an 8-day Class.
Arohanui, Arjava. Thank you for walking this path with us.
