Your Usui Reiki Lineage always goes back to the first three generations of the lineage
- Dr Mikao Usui - to whom Reiki was gifted, the founder of the Usui Reiki Lineage 1865 - 1926
- Mr Chijiro Hayashi - one of 22 of Mikao Usui's Reiki Teachers or Shehans 1878 - 1940
- Mrs Hawayo Takata - the first Reiki Teacher to introduce and teach Usui Reiki in the Western World 1900 - 1980
Usui Reiki was gifted to and founded by Sensei Mikao Usui in Japan
Mr Hayasha was one of Sensei Usui’s 20+ Usui Reiki Teachers (Shihans) and he initiated and taught Mrs Takata – who was the first-ever Usui Reiki Teacher (and woman) in the western world.
In her 80’s, Mrs Takata taught & initiated 22 Reiki Master Teachers who, in turn, shared Reiki with the rest of the western world
About Yolanda and her Reiki Lineage
I was trained in Australia in two different Usui Reiki Lineages (see below)
As you may know, Reiki is passed down from Teacher to student. Arising from an Asian culture Reiki is an ‘energy lineage’ and is passed from Teacher to student over the generations
Yolanda's Usui Reiki First & Second Degree Lineage
I was taught First and Second Degree Reiki in Sydney, Australia in 1994 by Beverly Bultitude, a direct Teacher of Beth Gray. Beth was one of Mrs Takata’s original 22 Reiki Master Teachers
Once you are an Usui Reiki Student, Master or Teacher of mine, you would add your name at the bottom of both Lineages
Your Reiki Lineage shows your Teacher's pathway back to the Founder of Reiki, Sensei Mikao Usui. Every Reiki Lineage will begin with Sensei Mikao Usui followed by one of his twenty Shihan or the twenty Teachers he initiated and taught Reiki to so they could pass it on to others
Every new Reiki Student I've ever taught feels grateful to understand their Lineage and be part of this wonderful 'River of Reiki' that is now taught all over the world to millions.

Yolanda's Usui Reiki Teacher Lineage 1996 -
When I became a Reiki Student while living in Australia, there were only ever three Reiki Degrees you could learn - Reiki First Degree, Reiki Second Degree and Reiki Master
There was never a separation between Reiki Master and Reiki Teacher - a Reiki practitioner would not become a Reiki Teacher but a Reiki Master. A Reiki Master taught classes and was trained how to teach and attune their Reiki students to each Degree of Reiki (as a Reiki Teacher is now taught).
When I returned to New Zealand after living in Australia for twenty-six years, Reiki Master and Reiki Teacher were split into two separate levels of training.
Eventually I adjusted my teaching to do the same and added my Reiki Third Degree Class as a stand-alone extension of advanced Reiki Second Degree practices AND the first half of becoming a Reiki Master with me
Yolanda's Usui Reiki Teacher Lineage 1996 -
2 years after learninf Reiki First and Second Degrees with Beverly Bultitude in Sydney and after 1000’s of hours sending and giving free Reiki, I was attuned to Reiki Master/Teacher by Reiki and Seikhem Master Ian Davies, whose lineage included well known Australian Reiki Teachers plus Phyllis Lee Furumoto, Mrs Takata’s Grand-daughter (see below).
But always, my Lineage lead back to the same three Reiki Masters - Sensei Usui, Shehan Hyashi and Mrs Takata - the first Reiki Master outside of Japan and who introduced Reiki to the Western world.
